Lots Going On!

I will be at the APQS Booth at the Central Alberta Quilt Show in Red Deer this Friday 10 -7 pm and Saturday 10 – 5. (April 4 and 5, 2014) Stop in and say hi!

I have been travelling: Calgary, Saskatoon, Lloydminster and Fort McMurrary with APQS. It has been fun, and always great to meet new quilters.

Check out 440 Quilt Shop in Saskatoon, it is a new shop, 440, 45h Street East, Saskatoon. Beautiful fabrics! New lines and some beautiful Kaufman that is very new. Can’t wait to go back this summer. Periwinkle in Saskatoon is also a very nice store. Just didn’t have enough time to look.

Calgary Studio hours this week are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I will be teaching two beginner classes – Thursday afternoon and evening. Drop in or call for more questions. 403 815 6062.

The only way to describe this quilt is Luscious! I think they should rename it. This customer is a fabulous piecer and has managed the bias edges every well. I will post a picture when it is done.

We are having sew much fun playing with Wonderfil Thread.  I am loving their Master Quilter, Deco Bob, Tutti and Fruitti!!!

Here are some colours we have put together for some basic sets.  They also have prewound bobbins that work great in our machines and I use them in my domestic for piecing, too.Image

This is our basic set.  Very pretty neutrals.  Soft White, Earth Yellow, Pink Green, Brown/Grey, Beige, Sterling Grey.

And ‘A Little More” – adding a little more colour:  Soft Yellow, Dark Orange, Lilac, Sky Blue, Red, Dark Olive Green.

And the bobbin colours:  Antique White, Grey, Taupe, Dark Tan and Moss Green.

Thanks for looking!  Next to fabric, thread my next stash!

Fabricland’s July 1 Sale

Hey, everyone,  Fabricland always has a great sale on July 1, and wanted you all to know their July 1 sale is TODAY!!!  It is a good time to stop up on any quilting rulers, cutters, as they are 50% off today, and fabric will be on sale – I am going to see what their wide backs are as I have a few quilts coming up to finish.

Power sewing yesterday with my good friend Jocelyn, so much fun to sew and talk — we are working on a ‘modern’ quilt and we both love it!  Stay tuned and I will be posting pictures soon.

Also, see what happens when a quilter goes to a silent auction and bids up the beautiful quilt in the auction!

Beautiful day in Alberta today, blessings to all of you.

Contest! I need your votes!

I have entered some quilts into a ‘contest’ sponsored by Circlelord – I used some of their products to quilt with.  If you go to their website and look for the 2012 Circlelord Challenge, once you click on it and look on the right hand side of the page, you will see all the quilts listed and you can vote in each category – one vote will be counted per email address.  If I win, I get some credit for some more toys for my quilting machine.  Even if you don’t vote, there is lots of eye candy!  Thanks!  http://circlelord2012final.blogspot.ca/

“Liam’s Quilt” – a joint project

Here is a quilt for a baby boy that my youngest daughter, Heidi and I completed as a joint project.  Heidi has not done much sewing before, but she did a great job picking out all the colours and putting it together.  Heidi did most of piecing the quilt together, I did the applique and quilting.  This quilt goes to a very special little boy in Ontario!  Thanks for looking.  (This pattern is a purchased pattern and not an original.  When I can post the designer, I will.)

Here are some close-ups:

I love these colours!

Here are the 'Terry Twists' I chose to put in the squares. A quick and easy fill for squares. And finally, the border, I put stars and loops there.
